About David Walker

David is one of 13 charter members of the Inaugural Sulphur High School (La.) Hall of Fame, inducted at the school's Centennial Celebration in April, 2013. 12 of the inductees are from first 50 years of the school's existence and David, a 1973 graduate, is the lone inductee from Sulphur High's latest 50 years, respectively.

Taking his first snap at the age of 17 as a true freshman, David Walker is the youngest starting quarterback in the history of college football. He is a former algebra teacher, high school football coach, father of two and author of a unique portrayal of athletics narrated in his new book, "I'll Tell You When You're Good!" Nicknamed "Moon Walker" by his Sulphur High teammates, David, at 16 years of age, was voted Louisiana's large-school classification's 1st-team All-State Quarterback and the Outstanding Offensive Player in the state. His book provides a genuine look at the transition from high school to major college and the contrasts of his coaches, Sulphur's legendary Louisiana Hall of Famer, Shannon Suarez, and the father of the Wishbone, Emory Bellard.

Originally an LSU signee in line to replace the heralded Bert Jones, David looked west to Texas A&M where he felt opportunities were more favorable, despite his very young age, to attain the starting quarterback position immediately as a freshman in a rising program. Converting from a passing offense to Emory Bellard's Wishbone, David won the starting job, was named the SWC's Freshman of the Year and went on to become A&M's winningest all-time quarterback.

David's keen insight and knowledge of the game's strategy, psychology and preparation, combined with his fierce competitiveness as a 2-year team captain and 4-year field general for 42 games while under Center for the Aggies, are the reasons David was asked by Gamedayr to contribute his thoughts and analyses on not only his Alma mater, but the Southeastern Conference as well.

Autographed Copies of David's book are available Now at 12thManQB.com. Follow David on Twitter @DavidMoonWalker and like his Facebook page, 12th Man QB.
