Name: David Walker

Team: Texas A&M Aggies

One of the ultimate 'gamers' in college sports history, David is the original four-year starting quarterback for Texas A&M University, becoming the first true freshman to play the position there since World War II. At age 17 in 1973, he became a noted pioneer for America's true freshman quarterbacks who have since stepped on a football field in a starting role for D-1 teams. He is a former algebra teacher, high school head football coach, father of two (one an A&M grad) and author of an extraordinary portrayal of amateur athletics narrated in his new book, "I'll Tell You When You're Good! America's 12th Man Quarterback." David is one of 13 charter members of the Inaugural Sulphur High School Hall of Fame in Southwest Louisiana, all inducted at the school's Centennial Celebration in April, 2013. Twelve of the inductees were graduates during the first 50 years of the school's existence while David, a 1973 grad, is the single inductee from Sulphur High's most recent 50 years, respectively. David Walker is the youngest starting quarterback in the history of college football. In the very first Aggie football game he ever saw David was sent into the contest with the ball on the Aggies' own one yard-line. Several months later he was named the Southwest Conference's Offensive Freshman of the Year by the league's coaches. David suffered a broken neck in a rollover accident involving an SUV and the two complete dislocations of his cervical spine went undetected for four months. He was millimeters away from total paralysis according to his surgeon, Dr. Jose Rodriguez in Houston. David warns against texting and driving. Autographed Copies of David's book and his personally designed officially licensed Aggie Apparel are available Now at 12thManQuarterback.com.
