In a move that was seen as a bit of a surprise, the Tide has earned its first five-star wide receiver commitment since Julio Jones in 2008.
What gives the decision of Robert Foster such a ‘bombshell factor’ is that the 6-foot-3, 190-pounder is a native of Monaca, Pa., and most saw him heading to the Pitt campus, only 26 miles away.
No matter what fans in either Pittsburgh or Tuscaloosa are feeling, the fact is the nation’s No. 3-overall wide receiver according to Scout.com is now going to be a member of the Alabama Crimson Tide — along with seemingly every other spectacular recruit out there.
According to the Daily Bama Blog, the decision made by Foster to join the Tide’s ranks moves coach Nick Saban’s recruiting class from No. 5 in the nation all the way up to No. 1.
There are 20 overall signees scheduled to arrive on campus in 2013, and six of them are five-star recruits: defensive end Jonathan Allen of Stone Bridge High in Ashburn, Va., tight end O.J. Howard of Autauga Academy, quarterback Cooper Bateman of Salt Lake City, defensive lineman Demarcus Walker of Jacksonville, Fla., Yulee, Fla., running back Derrick Henry, and now of course Foster.
Did anyone actually believe the Tide were going to be rebuilding following yet another BCS National Championship game appearance?
Heck no, Alabama and Nick Saban simply reload and keep moving.
