2013 Florida Gators recruiting class shaping up to be the best in college football

| January 14, 2013 at 12:28 pm | 2 Comments

Head coach Will Muschamp and the entire staff have been hitting the recruiting trail like it’s going out of style. Their efforts have catapulted the 2013 class all the way to No. 1 in the nation.

With national signing day creeping ever closer, we figured it was time to take a quick rundown of the class, including who is already in Gainesville and who is set to sign with the Gators.

The class is currently ranked No. 1 by both ESPN and Rivals, and No. 3 according to 247Sports.

Last week it was initially believed that seven total players would enroll early, however with the news of Brian Kelly’s potential departure the Gators received one unsuspected early enrollee, four-star linebacker Alex Anzalone. Anzalone’s commitment was enough to jump the Gators over Notre Dame to No. 1 in the rankings.

There are a total of 26 players currently committed to Florida, and according to Rivals’ rankings: one five-star, 15 four-star, and 10 three-star prospects.

Vernon Hargreaves III, who is coming off an MVP performance in the Under Armour All-American game, is the prized possession of this class. Experts have referred to him as one of the best cornerback prospects they have ever seen.

The coaching staff is doing a phenomenal job of filling every position of need for the Gators, and most importantly, there is some significant fire power coming in on the offensive side of the ball. Florida currently has commitments from Kelvin Taylor (No. 5 RB/No. 36 overall), Demarcus Robinson (No. 5 WR/No. 48 overall), and Alvin Bailey (No. 13 WR/No. 101 overall).

  • Daniel McMillian, LB (Jacksonville First)
