Only a short two years ago, Florida football — and its legions of Orange and Blue-clad fans — was down in the dumps. However, the old-school Coach Boom came aboard and got his program to buy into hard-nosed, big boy football.

His current players were not the only young men he had to convince. Like his mentor, Nick Saban over at Alabama, coach Muschamp had to convince 17-18 year old high school stars that his brand of football was going to make those young recruits into bigger, stronger and better young adults.

Florida’s 2013 recruiting class was comprised of 28 prep stars. The number is more than the average for a top 40 recruiting class, which is 23. It is less than Texas A&M’s 34 and Georgia’s 32.

There are 11 members of the ESPN150 headed to Gainesville and and 16 within the ESPN300. Both of those numbers are far higher than the average school in the top 40 of the recruiting rankings, at four and seven, respectively.

The class is headlined by five-star cover corner Vernon Hargreaves and running back Kelvin (son of Fred) Taylor. There are 20 four-star recruits and five three-stars.

So, what do you think? Are you impressed by Muschamp’s haul, or do you think he and his staff could have even done better?

It’s time to have your voice heard, Gator Nation, and give your program’s recruiting class a grade.

What grade would you give the incoming 2013 Florida Gators recruiting class?
