Every morning the fine folks at Sports Radio Interview take a dive into interviews from across the nation to bring the internet the best of the best.

On Thursday, they pulled a piece from WKNR in Cleveland with new Indians manager Terry Francona.

Francona is in his first year with the ball-club and naturally expectations are very high for the underachieving franchise. They recently signed Jason Giambi to a minor league contract, but it seems to be his impact in the clubhouse that has gotten Francona excited.

When asked about Giambi and what he means to the team, Francona responded with the following:

“We have some decisions to make. It’s not only if Giambi can help us, because we think he can, but how he fits with the rest of our roster. … But I’d be lying if I said he’s not special. … I’ve already gone to him two or three times with questions about things. It’s just the way he is. He’s a manager-in-waiting. I guess we hope that it just doesn’t start too soon and we have him for the year.”

Francona undoubtedly has high praise for Giambi and from the sounds of it, he hopes that the club can hang onto the once-proud All Star for quite some time.
