According to Wikipedia, Kirby Smart is Auburn’s new head coach

Looks like some fans are having fun with the ‘ol Wikipedia. If you give Kirby Smart’s page a check (hasn’t been changed as of Tuesday morning), you’ll see that he is no longer the defensive coordinator at Alabama, but rather the head coach at Auburn University.

According to AL.com, Smart interviewed with Auburn yesterday for the Tigers vacant position. If Smart, a man that is a Nick Saban protege and who has bled Crimson for multiple national championships, takes the job, then the great state of Alabama may just blow up.

War Eagle Nation has already created WarIrish, showing you just what lengths they’ll go to hate Alabama. It’s hard to determine whether they would hate a Bama man running their program, or if they would love to steal one of the Crimson Tide’s championship chess pieces.

Meh. If he goes he goes. All that means to me is that Saban probably told Kirby that he had no intention of vacating the head coaching position at Alabama so if Kirby got an offer he liked then he should take. So if Kirby leaves that probably means Saban will be at Bama for another 3+ years at a minimum. Sounds like good news to me. This is not Saban leaving for Auburn. This is one of his coaches leaving. Albeit a great defensive coach. We all know not all great DCs make great HCs…..for example Gene Chizik.
