Nick Saban’s Red Elephants stomped all over the SEC’s latest whipping boys, taking down Mizzou at Columbia by a final score of 42-10.

The Alabama Crimson Tide had two weeks to prepare for a Missouri team that was not only trying to work its way into a new conference, but trying to get over the shell shock of losing to perennial SEC doormats, Vanderbilt, 19-15, a week prior.

If this game was all about pride, coach Gary Pinkel’s Tigers are feeling roughly as good about themselves as any other 20-year old college student who just got beat down in EA Sports. Unfortunately for them, they got slaughtered in real life, not on a PS3 or Xbox like most dorm room video game champions.

Junior starting running back Eddie Lacy compiled “video game-esque” numbers, despite the extended delay due to lightening, averaging 9.8 yards per carry, with 177 yards on a mere 18 carries. Not to be outdone, young gunnin’ freshman baller T.J. Yeldon also enjoyed 18 carries, “going off” for 144 yards and a studly 8.0 average yards per carry of his own.

Combined, the first-year and third-year two-headed monster went off for five touchdowns. The two displayed the type of ground-and-pound prowess that can be counted on, week in and week out.

Saban expects physical domination of each and every opponent. Tide Nation expects its running backs to roll over each and every defensive linemen in their path.

On Saturday, Eddie Lacy and T.J Yeldon did just that, and the results are going to keep ‘Bama as the unanimous No. 1-ranked team in the nation.

Welcome to the 2012 season running game. Roll Tide.
