The Super Bowl has evolved over the years into far more than simply a football game. Rather, the NFL’s battle to crown its annual champion has become an entire two-week long event, culminating in a national party on Super Sunday.

However, before the game can kick off, before the teams can mosey out to midfield for a ceremonial coin flip and before the jets can do their flyovers, we and the League must all pay homage to our national pastime with nothing else but our wonderful National Anthem.

After making an appearance at Barack Obama’s inauguration, singing her own ‘Girl on Fire’, Alicia Keys again finds herself in front of the entire nation with a microphone in her hand. However, this time around, Keys will be singing the National Anthem, and she is not going to be afraid to put her own personal spin on the song.

Keys made an appearance on EXTRA, promoting her new film, “The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete” but the question on everybody’s mind was what she was planning for the big game.

“Wait till you hear this one,” Keys said with a wink. ”You’ll see. I’m gonna do it in a way that only I can do.”

Do we know exactly what she means? Nope.

Does anyone? Well, nope.

We are going to have to wait until the day of in order to see and hear what Mizz Keys has in store for the nation.

In the meantime, we’ll busy ourselves with ordering our sandwich platters and making sure there is far more than enough beer to go around.

And we’re going to place some bets on whether or not her song goes over two minutes and 15 seconds.
