Alabama moves to No. 1-overall with signing of four-star RB Alvin Kamara

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide do not rebuild, they simply reload. In the case of four-star running back Alvin Kamara, the star high school running back wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Tide’s most recent signing simply wanted a chance to win a national championship.

Kamara is a 5-foot-10, 190-pound back out of Norcross, Ga.; he is listed as the nation’s No. 2 running back by Rivals and No. 4 by ESPN. No matter where he is slotted amongst the nation’s elite, however, the fact remains: The rich only got richer on National Signing Day.

This in spite of the fact that another ESPN150 running back, Altee Tenpenny, committed to the Tide only days prior to Wednesday’s big decision day.

The young star’s immediate decision came down to Bama and his home state Bulldogs. However, throughout his recruiting process Kamara also considered Florida State, Clemson, Oklahoma State and Tennessee, among others.

While Saban leans back into his chair and debates how best to use all of his offensive weapons, his counterpart at Georgia, Mark Richt, struggles. The Bulldogs head coach pulled in a great class, but failed to keep a number of the state’s top high school players at home. That is generally priority number one for college coaches and could come back to bite him later on.
