Cincinnati Bengals’ big man Andre Smith has been arrested in Atlanta after trying to board an airplane with a .380-calibur handgun in his possession.
The Cincy offensive tackle had reportedly brought a gun with him into Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta Airport, according to SB Nation. Even worse, police caught him actually trying to board a plane with the weapon on him.
He was brought to court on Friday and subsequently released on $3,000 bond.
Smith recently finished up his fourth season in the NFL after being selected as the No. 6-overall pick by the Bengals in the 2009 NFL Draft. He opened his career with an extended holdout, but after starting things out slowly he had really picked things up over the last two seasons. He started every game of the 2012 season and is still expected to do so next year as well.
He has not had any previous run-ins with the law prior to Thursday’s arrest.
