AP Poll released for Week 12: There’s a new No. 1

| November 11, 2012 at 12:38 pm | 9 Comments

The AP top 25 for Week 12 has been released. Move over Alabama, there’s a new No. 1 in town, and to much of Nick Saban’s dismay, it is Oregon and their high-flying offensive attack. If you thought Saban really disliked uptempo spread attacks before, imagine how he feels about them after Johnny Football ran roughshod in Bryant-Denny Stadium Saturday night.

With the loss, Alabama slipped to No. 4. Kansas State and Notre Dame moved up one spot, just behind Oregon, and Georgia rounds out the top five.

The SEC still leads the nation with five teams ranked in the top ten, followed by the ACC (1), Pac 12 (1), Big 12 (1), Big Ten (1), and Notre Dame.

Texas A&M made the biggest jump, from No. 15 to No. 9, while Louisville suffered the biggest drop, from No. 11 to No. 20. The Cardinals were throttled by unranked Syracuse, 45-26.

Mississippi State and Toledo both fell out of the top 25, while No. 23 Michigan and No. 25 Kent State moved into the top 25.
