Brad Lawing leaving South Carolina for Florida to coach defensive line
247 Sports is reporting that longtime South Carolina assistant coach Brad Lawing will be leaving the Gamecocks to join Will Muschamp and the Florida Gators.
Lawing spent 17 out of the past 24 seasons in Columbia. He served under Brad Scott and Sparky Woods from 1989-1998, before leaving for short stints at Michigan State (1999-02) and North Carolina (2003-05). He returned to Columbia in 2006 to coach the defensive line under former Gators coach Steve Spurrier.
With national signing day creeping closer by the minute, his move will most assuredly strike much of Gamecock Nation in the wrong manner.
Florida recently lost defensive coordinator and defensive line coach Dan Quinn to the Seattle Seahawks, and it is believed that Lawing will replace Quinn’s defensive line responsibilities for the Gators.
