Some guys and girls write their phone numbers down on cocktail napkins.

However, when former-Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema wanted Arkansas athletic director Jeff Long to call him, he planted the seed early, working far harder than simply writing a set of digits down on a napkin.

Instead, he took the time to write out an entire hand-written letter complimenting the man, the school and the program.

Sounds about as loyal to Wisconsin as a dude with a girlfriend who writes down his phone number on cocktail napkins.

Here’s the typed-out transcription:

Jeff,

Just wanted to say that this note is long past due. As I watched your press conference this past spring I wanted to reach out and say how much I respected your actions but more importantly your words. As a head coach I know that my comments are looked at in every way possible. Here at UW I have a great AD because he is a man of his word and asks the same for all of us. Best wishes moving forward and say strong. It was the right call!

Best wishes,

Bret

P.S. One thing I have learned through my time here at UW is that today’s society wants to win them all, but as Coaches and Administrators we need to balance the Big Picture for all our student athletes!

Hey Jeff, I just met you, and this is crazy, but here’s my hand-written letter in support of your program that needs a new head coach. Call me, maybe?

What do you think Gamedayr Nation? Did Bielema know all along that he was skipping out of Mad-Town?
