The Buffalo Bills spent a fortune on quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who then commenced to embarrass himself more and more by the week. The franchise did not waste very much time once free agency opened up, cutting ties with Fitzpatrick in an effort to start fresh at the position.

The only problem? There does not seem to be too many All-Pro-caliber players in free agency, or the upcoming 2013 NFL Draft.

Thus, the team is going to workout former West Virginia star Geno Smith in hopes of seeing the future of their franchise in his right arm and his fast feet. According to SB Nation, the 6-foot-3, 208-pounder is going to be working out privately for Buffalo brass on Friday, March 22.

Smith, despite his college team’s swoon to end the 2012-13 season, is largely seen as the top pro quarterbacking prospect in this year’s draft.

Officially, his ‘private workout’ with the Bills is different from a ‘pre-draft visit’. Teams are only allowed to hold 30 pre-draft visits at their official sites. Thus, this workout will be held either on the West Virginia campus or near Smith’s home.

The Bills have the eighth-overall selection in the upcoming Draft. If Smith performs the way the team is expected, he could make himself millions of dollars as a top-10 overall selection.
