Colorado fires head coach Jon Embree after just two seasons

| November 26, 2012 at 12:00 am | 1 Comment

Welcome to the 21st century, college football fans, where coaches barely get enough time to move furniture into their new house.

On Sunday, Colorado fired second-year head coach Jon Embree.

Embree amassed a record of 4-21 while at the helm of the Buffaloes football program. Previous Colorado head coach Dan Hawkins, who Embree replaced, was a subpar 19-39 in five seasons.

Usually, the cut throat business of firing coaches before they barely even get to step foot on campus is reserved for the SEC, but Colorado has apparently had enough of the mediocre winning ways the program has grown accustomed too as of late.

Coaches are typically given at least three seasons, in order to recruit the players that fit their system, but Embree wasn’t showing signs of leading the program in the right direction.

In a ‘what have you done for me lately’ type of world, the college football industry has sunk to a new low.

What do you think is next for the Buffs program? Who do they hire? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Who should the Buffs hire?

  • Ronald Brewer

Maybe not fair to fire the coach after only 2 seasons, but 4-21 is not “mediocre”, as the article describes.
