World Baseball Classic Brawl: Canada and Mexico throw down

world baseball classic brawl 2013

Things got very interesting today in the top of the 9th-inning during the Canada vs Mexico World Baseball Classic game. Teams cleared the benches for a big-time brawl after a Canadian batter was hit by a pitch.

Chris Robinson of Canada lead off the inning with a bunt, but the fact that his team was leading 9-3 seemed to spark the reason for the hit pitch. Rene Tosoni stepped into the box after and Mexico pitcher Arnold Leon threw the first pitch close to the batters knees. He followed that pitch with one to the back and after that, as the announcers simply put it, “it was on.”

You can’t throw Rene Tosoni, Jay Johnson and Peter Orr out of the game against Mexico!!! They didn’t do anything severe! The Canada-Team USA game went on as usual with no suspensions issued. When the 2013 WBC ends I would disqualify Mexico and Canada from the tournament and the wins in 2013 vacated. This means that Mexico/Canada will receive an automatic last place in the 2013 WBC and no points awarded by the IBAF.
