The 2013 college football season is still months away from kicking off. However, teams’ offseason preparations are hitting full stride as the pieces to programs’ championship puzzles are being put together.

National Signing Day is in the rearview, as is the final deadline for juniors and redshirt sophomores to declare for the 2013 NFL Draft. Thus, with several months to go, coaches across the country finally know who will be hitting the practice fields with Spring drills just around the corner.

The way CBS Sports’ Bruce Feldman sees it, there is no better time than now to study the ins and outs of the rosters of each of the nation’s biggest and best programs.

There is no better time to put together his own way too early preseason top 10 rankings.

Are the two-time defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide at No. 1?

10. South Carolina Gamecocks

9. Notre Dame Fighting Irish

8. Florida Gators

7. Louisville Cardinals

6. Oregon Ducks

5. Clemson Tigers

4. Ohio State Buckeyes

3. Stanford Cardinal

2. Texas A&M Aggies

1. Alabama Crimson Tide

Obviously, Feldman does, at the very least, see the Tide opening the season in the nation’s top overall spot — after winning three of the nation’s four previous BCS national titles, Bama certainly deserves the benefit of the doubt.

However, coach Nick Saban’s powerhouse travels to College Station to take on the Aggies in their second game of the season.

That should be fun.

Compare Feldman’s preseason rankings to those of his colleague, Dennis Dodd.

I am writing them down and 5 out of them won’t be in the top ten.

Would prefer to have our TIDE ranked a little lower…like 5 or 6…
