Former Florida Gators forward Chandler Parsons had the game of his career against the over achieving Knicks Friday night. The Knicks came into last night’s match up in Houston 8-2 and were expected to beat the Rockets. With the unexpected spark from Parsons and the non-exsistent defense from New York, the Rockets put a screaching holt to one of the NBA’s hottest teams.
The big story leading up to the game was the match up of last year’s NBA darling, Jeremy Lin, against his former Knicks team. Parsons stole the show in the first half, almost doubling his season average of 14 points per game, and putting up an impressive 26 points in the first half. Parsons ended up with a career high 31 points, 13/17 from the field, and four steals to help cap off the Rocket’s win. Parsons’ teammate and newly acquired star, James Harden, added 33 points to help Houston spank the Knicks 131-103.
This morning on ESPN, Stephen A. Smith (for whatever his opinion is worth) compared Parsons’ perfeormance to the all-time great Larry Bird. He also threw in his typical sarcasm asking, “who is Chandler Parsons?”. Well Stephen A., He is obviously a beast and I doubt you will be forgetting his name the rest of the season.
Congrats Chandler and keep making the Gator Nation proud.
How (and why) the Florida Gators can still win the 2012 BCS National Championship
