Rumor Mill: Louisville’s Charlie Strong tight-lipped regarding coaching future

After spending eight consecutive seasons as an assistant with the Florida Gators, current Louisville head coach Charlie Strong meets the Gators once again. This time, however, it is as the enemy in the Sugar Bowl after his Cardinals took home the Big East championship.

In fact, so wellh as Strong performed in his first head coaching gig, leading Louisville to a BCS bowl berth in just his third season in charge, several big-time schools have reportedly reached out regarding their open coaching positions.

Especially considering his aforementioned experience within the SEC; he helped to recruit several of the seniors still dominating The Swamp down in Gainesville.

[Settle It! Who would you want as your defensive coordinator, Charlie Strong or Dan Quinn?]

However, even though he has been linked to the openings at Auburn, Arkansas and Tennessee — the three SEC programs still on the hunt for their leading man — Strong is not giving anything away.

That said, he is not making the rumors go away, either.

When asked if he could definitely say whether or not he would be returning to Louisville for yet another year, Strong could not. Instead, the coach with massive muscles clammed up like a politician who had never weight trained a day in his life.

“I will say that at the right time.”

At the right time for whom? That is the correct question.

At the right time for the Louisville athletic department? Probably not.

For the fans of one of the three remaining downtrodden and increasingly desperate SEC schools?

Again, Strong is going to let everybody know that ‘at the right time’.

In the meantime, the fans of four different football teams will spend the next four weeks freaking out.
