Since the Bobcats stink, should Charlotte bring the buzz back and call themselves the Hornets? [Video]

The Hornets broke the hearts of Charlotte basketball lovers when it was announced that the franchise would be picking up root and heading to New Orleans.

The decade-plus of basketball in both cities since has been an unmitigated disaster. The Hornets down in NOLA stunk for years, traded their best player in Chris Paul to the Clippers and only recently found someone to actually buy the team after the NBA was forced to take on ownership for several years.

Meanwhile, Charlotte got themselves an expansion team, but the Bobcats have never prospered, in spite of the best efforts of principal owner and legend Michael Jordan.

It is widely known that both franchises are in dire need of a fresh start, and New Orleans is set to do so in a big way to open up next season. The team will shed its ‘Hornets’ name in favor of the ‘Pelicans’ — a moniker with a far more local feel (and don’t laugh; Pelicans are actually crazy ferocious in real life).

The city of Charlotte yearns for the days of Alonzo Mourning, Mouggsy Bogues and Grandmama Johnson. Will MJ ditch the failing Bobcats and reinvent the team in the old-school successes of the Hornets?

A group of Charlotte basketball lovers are hoping so:
