Charlotte Bobcats’ Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: ‘Michael Jordan beat me 1-on-1′

Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is no basketball slouch. After winning the college basketball national championship alongside Anthony Davis at Kentucky, he was selected just behind Davis as the No. 2-overall selection in the NBA Draft.

However, and unlike Davis, Kidd-Gilchrist’s new boss just so happens to be the greatest player who ever lived — Charlotte Bobcats minority owner Michael Jordan.

It is an interesting time of the year for the NBA right now. The league’s All-Star Weekend and festivities happen to be going on during the same few days the nation celebrates Jordan’s 50th birthday. Well, everyone may be celebrating, but not Kidd-Gilchrist.

The Bobcats rookie has been left licking his wounds, so to speak.

While taking part in the NBA Rising Stars Challenge rookie-sophomore game, he told USA Today that he lost to his boss in a game of 1-on-1.

“It was hard for me,” Kidd-Gilchrist, almost 20, said. “I lost. I lost to a 50-year-old guy. … He’s the greatest man that ever played the game.

“Oh, yeah. He’s good.”

But is he really that good? Of course, the six-time NBA Champion with the Chicago Bulls has a statue of himself outside of the United Center in the Windy City. He has six NBA Finals MVPs and five regular season MVP awards. He was a 10-time NBA first-teamer, 10-time scoring champion, nine-time NBA All Defensive first-teamer and a 14-time All-Star.

But he’s 50, and that’s a fact. Was Kidd-Gilchrist taking it easy on His Ancient Airness because that’s his boss?

“No. I didn’t allow him to beat me,” he said. “Because that’s my boss? Nah.”

Seeing Jordan lace ‘em up one last time would arguably be the greatest thing ever.

But would it be as great as Nick Cannon’s winged shoes?
