Rumor Mill: Chip Kelly to be ‘heavily pursued’ by the Philadelphia Eagles
The rumors of Chip Kelly bolting the comfy nest he has built in Eugene for the NFL waters are growing louder by the day.
Boosters are reportedly unhappy with Kelly’s care for their existence, and we all know just how important it is to keep the guys stroking your paycheck happy.
According to Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports, “The Philadelphia Eagles will consider Chip Kelly to replace Andy Reid, according to league sources, and multiple executives with rival teams anticipate Philadelphia making a heavy push to land the Oregon head coach.”
Adding to the known fact that Kelly and Oregon boosters are at odds is the potential NCAA sanctions looming over the program. According to reports, the Ducks may have to appear in front of the infractions committee this spring, which could bring a whole new mess of problems to the program.
If the push is true and Kelly does decide to make the jump, the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 3 against Kansas State will be the last time we see Kelly lead one of the nation’s most prolific offenses on a college football field.
