Colin Kaepernick went from his home town of Milwaukee to starring at mid-major Nevada to now sharing the spotlight with absolutely nobody on the national stage.

Kaepernick was chosen with the No. 36-overall selection in the 2011 NFL Draft, but spent all of last season and the beginning of this behind starter Alex Smith. However, Smith went down with a concussion against the St. Louis Rams in Week 10, making Kaepernick the main man.

His first career start not only came the very next game against an elite Chicago Bears defense, but on Monday Night Football's national time slot, no less. Kaepernick did not blink, throwing for 246 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in the 32-7.

He did not blink then, and he has not looked back since, carrying the Niners to the organization's first Super Bowl berth in 18 years.

On Tuesday, he met with a swathe of reporters to discuss he preparation and his mindset as he gears up for the biggest game of his life. More than 5,000 reporters are credentialed for the big game and several hundred were in attendance for media day.

Someone asked him about his tattoos, and Kaepernick shared that he would be getting a new one, win or lose -- but what it will be will not be decided until after Super Sunday.
