Florida State football injury report: Cornellius Carradine out for season with torn ACL

Injury was literally added to insult for the Noles on Sunday when head coach Jimbo Fisher announced that Cornellius Carradine had indeed torn his right ACL against Florida and would miss the remainder of the 2012 season.

Carradine has been a force for the Seminoles all season long, amassing a total of 80 tackles to lead the team. He has also accounted for 11 sacks, good for second in the ACC, just behind fellow FSU defender Bjoern Werner.

Prior to the injury, Carradine was ranked as one of the top five defensive ends for the 2013 NFL Draft.

“The draft will still be fine,” Fisher said. “It’ll rehab and that won’t effect those guys much at all. Maybe a round at the most. But he’s sad and he’s down because he can’t be with his teammates. But I think he’ll still play in the NFL and be very highly drafted.”

Carradine replaced star defensive end Brandon Jenkins, who was lost early in the season with a broken foot.

The Noles next game is against Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship. Florida State will turn to two freshmen to step in for Carradine.
