Dan Sileo fired from Florida radio station for anti-Semitic comment
Dan Sileo has really got a way with words. So much so that he was fired from WQAM this week for anti-Semitic comments he made while on the air.
You might recall Sileo’s epic rant on the Hurricanes this past football season. If you haven’t heard it yet and you want a good laugh, give this pure radio gold a listen.
In January, Sileo did nothing short of embarrass himself on Twitter when he belittled Erin Andrews and her career (check out the tweets at Big Lead Sports). While it was bad, it wasn’t the straw that broke the back for his radio career. No, it was this “joke” he dropped on a stereotype often related to the Jewish culture (quote via Sports Rantz):
“Hey, one thing I’m very proud of, I saved every nickel I had. That must be the half-Hebrew in me. ‘Cause I saved it… That’s part of the old culture there, man, right? That’s why when that $2.06 on that airplane got taken from me, man, I’m still pissed off at that thing.”
This marks the second time Sileo has been fired from a Florida radio station in the past year; WDAE in Tampa, FL let the former Hurricanes’ player go following a “monkeys” comment regarding Tampa Bay Bucs free agent players.
It’s safe to say that Sileo’s radio career is most likely dead, especially after being fired from two radio stations in a 12-month span.
