Four-star DT Dee Liner commits to Alabama on 2013 National Signing Day

Dee Liner, a native of Muscle Shoals, has announced that he will stay within the state and head to Tuscaloosa. The 6-foot-3, 275-pound defensive tackle will play for Nick Saban and the national champion Alabama Crimson Tide.

Liner is the No. 26-overall player in the nation, and while his announcement comes as no surprise, it does hurt rival Auburn in a big way. Following the firing of coach Gene Chizik, Liner rescinded his commitment from The Plains and re-opened his commitment. It was not an easy thing to do, by all reports, but at the end of the day he said he wanted to play for a national title.

After winning three of the last four BCS Championships, the Tide has brought in the type of player in Liner that will allow the possibility of another run at a crystal ball.

Dee Liner’s name is apt for his position along the defensive line, but the young man is more than simply his name. He is known for his tremendous ability as a disruptive pass rusher. However, he does not stop after busting through the offensive line. He runs a 4.86-second 40-yard dash, making his pursuit of opposing quarterbacks absolutely lights out.

Beyond Auburn and Alabama, Liner had offers on the table from Arkansas, Georgia, Miami, USC and several others. However, he never visited any school outside of his home state.
