Mike Tyson was in Chicago over the weekend for his one-man “Undisputed Truth” show, but he managed to skip on down to the South Side in order to reunite with former rival Evander ‘The Real Deal’ Holyfield. Holyfied, the former five-time heavyweight champion, was at local Jewel-Osco promoting his new barbeque sauce, The Real Deal BBQ.
Now, is there plenty to tease here? Well, yes, of course there is. However, Holyfield chooses to take the high road:
“It sent a message and let the world know that two fighters can come and forgive each other and move on for the best and the world can do the same thing,” Holyfield told the Chicago Tribune. “Everyone knows we were archrivals and all that, but when all is said and done, I forgave him and he forgave himself. Here’s a man who changed his life and changed my life, and that’s the way the world is supposed to be.”
Generally speaking, two guys enjoying an afternoon that involves barbeque sauce is called a grill-out. But hey, if Holyfield wants to call it redemption, who are we to say anything else?
Besides, with the half-bitten off ear of his, would he even hear anything else? (OK, so that was a cheap shot, admittedly, but it was downright impossible to get through this entire article without saying something about the infamous ear bite).
