Florence Freedom will feature Manti Te’o Girlfriend Bobblehead Night, seriously

We just can’t make this stuff up, Gamedayr Nation.

Manti Te’o recently found out that his girlfriend was not dead and was, in fact, not real at all. Bummer man.

Luckily for him the entire internet-verse has decided to take this opportunity to lift the young man up and make him feel a little bit better. Ok, maybe that was about as real of a statement as his girlfriend.

Te’oing has officially become a “thing”, Te’o memes are sweeping the web, and Spirit Airlines has created an ad in honor of Te’o, sort of.

The Florence Freedom (Florence, KY), a minor league baseball team of the Frontier League, has decided to host the first ever Manti Te’o Girlfriend Bobblehead Night. Seriously.

The Freedom’s press release on the night follows:

The Florence Freedom are excited to announce one of giveaways fans can look forward to during the 2013 season at UC Health Stadium.

On Thursday, May 23 the Freedom will be giving away the illusive Manti Te’o Girlfriend Bobblehead to the first 1000 fans through the gates.

“This will be the best kind of bobblehead a fan could get,” Freedom General Manager Josh Anderson said. “Because now fans can make the bobblehead out to be whatever they want it to be.”

Yes Freedom fans, the boxes will be empty. But that’s where fan imagination can run wild and individual unique stories about what the bobblehead should really look like can begin.

To add to the imaginary fun, section 115 will be blocked and reserved only for fans to sit with their imaginary friends, girlfriends/boyfriends or spouses. There will also be a make pretend kiss cam, air guitar contest and an imaginary food fight outside the Airheads Kids Zone.

Fans are also encouraged to bring their real life significant others to the ballpark that night and enjoy $1 beer or $1 soda during this staple Thirsty Thursday promotion.

Each fan in attendance will receive an empty box with a bobblehead in it, a la Manti Te’o style.

It is sure to be a night filled with imaginary fun.

The facts on this story varies but if I understand correctly, this started when he was in high school and came back to haunt him. Though I don’t think someone should bash or bully anyone for a mistake he should not receive the Heisman, not only because of his but because of his poor performance in the Notre Dame/Alabama game. He should have come right out and stated that the story is totally untrue and confess to his bad decision but he appeared to be milking it.
