Former Gator Jabar Gaffney headed back to the State of Florida
Former standout Florida Gators wide receiver Jabar Gaffney is headed back to the state of Florida. It was announced on Tuesday that the Miami Dolphins signed Gaffney.
Gaffney played for the Gators from 2000-2001 (he was redshirted in 1999, his freshman season). During his two seasons playing, he electrified the nation, catching 138 passes for 2,375 yards.
In 2000 and 2001 he was selected to both the All-SEC and All-American first teams. In 2001 he was unanimously selected as a first-team All-American.
Gaffney set career highs of 68 receptions and 947 receiving yards while suiting up for the Washington Redskins last season. He signed with the New England Patriots for 2012, but was released during training camp following a right hip injury.
If healthy, Gaffney could provide rookie QB Ryan Tannehill with another reliable receiver.
