Brent Pease and San Jose State? CBS’ Bruce Feldman wouldn’t be surprised
Don’t jump off a ledge just yet, Gator Nation. This is just one man’s thoughts on the Twitter-verse. Bruce Feldman of CBS tweeted the following on Monday.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Florida OC Brent Pease makes a run at San Jose St vacancy since AD was long-time Boise AD.
— Bruce Feldman (@BFeldmanCBS) December 10, 2012
Pease just finished his first season as the Florida Gators offensive coordinator. He helped turn around an offense that was all but nonexistent under former coordinator Charlie Weiss.
Feldman’s tweet got us here at Gamedayr thinking: How would the Gator Nation react to losing their new man?
Let’s lay out a few stats from this season before handing the decision over to you.
In 2012, the Gators recorded an 11-1 season with huge wins over LSU, Florida State, Texas A&M, and South Carolina. A major factor in those games was the coaching staff’s ability to make second-half adjustments.
For the year, Florida averaged 26.8 points per game (76th), 143.9 passing yards per game (118th), and 194.1 rushing yards per game (35th). The number in parentheses are the national ranks.
The offense at times seemed to run into a wall, but Pease’s ability to call the right plays at the right times in the squad’s biggest games seemed to invigorate Gator Nation.
