Former Gators QB Jacoby Brissett headed to North Carolina State

| January 16, 2013 at 9:33 pm | 4 Comments

The Palm Beach Post has reported that former Florida Gators quarterback Jacoby Brissett will transfer to North Carolina State.

NC State recently hired Dave Doeren to replace fired coach Danny O’Brien, and it looks as if Doeren has already pulled off a large coup in luring the 6-foot-5, dual-threat quarterback to Raleigh.

Brissett had reportedly narrowed a list of nine schools down to West Virginia and NC State, before picking the Wolfpack.

Brissett was thrown into the fire in his freshman season following an injury to senior John Brantley, however he was beat out in year two by fellow classmate Jeff Driskel.

Despite losing the starting job, it was the common belief among Florida Gators fans that Brissett and Driskel were of equal talent.

Brissett will have to sit out a year due to NCAA transfer rules, but will have two years of eligibility remaining once he is available to play in 2014.

Best of luck Brissett. Gators should of taken their lumps and have gone 8-3 or 8-4 with Brissett so they would have a real pro style quarterback ready to lead the team to a NC, Yes Driskell won a couple of games with his legs, but Driskell showed amost zero growth during the year and doesn’t appear to have what it takes to win a NC, much less an SEC championship.

If he had shown more leadership..or accurate passing he might have been the starter,,who really knows? Mustchomp must have had his reasons..but goodbye SEC! hello ACC..now he can play FSU maybe the whole game.

If the report on parting shots is accurate then I am not sad at all to see him go. I wish him luck and hope he develops and matures.

I think he should have had more opperyunity to play than he did, I think he will make a good QB and I do not blame him for going were he will get a better chance to grow as well. As far as Dryskal, He has what could be the next T bow, But he has tunnel vision, He has got to start checking for pressure to his side and looking for more than 1 reciever and stop tellapathing his throws and use his leggs when the throw is not there, And last, STEP UP and be a leader! Stop going setting by him self and saying nothing after every play, Good or Bad!
