Former NFL QB Ron Jaworski shreds Nick Saban’s credibility in a radio interview

While folks in Tuscaloosa and every member of Tide Nation, near and far, love their Nick Saban — so much so that he already has a statue of himself on Alabama’s campus — detractors outside of Saban’s sphere of influence remain.

Namely, those running in NFL circles, where Saban flamed out with the Miami Dolphins.

In recent weeks, the Alabama coaching legend’s named has surfaced as someone who may possibly be the next head coach of the Cleveland Browns.

However, Jaws, as Jaworski has come to be known in his time as a quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles and as an ESPN NFL analyst, just straight up does not want to see Saban back in the League.

Why?

In the eyes of Jaws, Saban is a ‘liar’.

I’m not a Saban guy, because I don’t like liars, and I think he lied. I think he lied to the Miami Dolphins and he lied to the fans of Miami, and he left. And it’s pretty simple. I think integrity is very important. If you don’t have integrity, I don’t know how you can be successful. Yeah, I know he’s great at Alabama and he’ll probably win another national championship, but I just don’t like people that don’t have integrity. So it’s pretty easy for me to say I don’t want Nick Saban in town.

Go ask some players on that team. Go ask some coaches on that team. They’ll tell ya. The Bobby Petrino’s of the world. I have a hard time backing those kinds of guys when they lie. If you don’t have integrity man, I don’t want to be around you.

After winning a title with LSU in 2003, Saban bolted for a new challenge in heading up the Miami Dolphins.

At the time, Mike Shula was busy running the once-proud Alabama program into the ground. When he was fired, Saban spent weeks claiming to have no interest in the position.

Yet, as soon as the Dolphins closed the book on his second season in South Beach with a loss to Indianapolis, the coach bee-lined it straight back to the comfy confines of the collegiate ranks.

Without all the venom in his voice, Alabama fans might be inclined to agree with Jaws. Tide Nation does not want to see Saban go either, especially as he gears up for his third title in a four year span, a feat not accomplished since Nebraska in the ’90s.

I’m a Alabama fan and I would hate to see him leave, but I would not hold it against him, instead I would want to thank him for his time in Ttown restoring the program back to greatness!!!! While I agree with most of what JAWS is saying, instead of taking the easy way of trashing him for lying why don’t he tell us all how to handle these situations. What was he supposed to do, tell reporters yes I’m interested in talking to Alabama after the season ? The only time a coaching change can take place smoothly in college is when it involves teams that are not in bowl games !!! He is not the first nor the last to be put in a situation where there is no good way to handle it !!!

Jaws is just looking to get his name back in peoples’ mouths. Saban did what EVERY coach does: Deny until your season is over, then entertain/take offers. He has said many times he didn’t have any control over Pro players (who play for money for themselves, not the success of the organization) and that College players still have a passion for the game that he didn’t see on the Pro level.

He may very well leave Bama some day, but I can all but guarantee it will NOT be to go back to the NFL.

Besides, Mrs. Terri said she is “home” in Alabama. And what Mrs. Terri says GOES!

You dont have to like the man, or even have a valid gripe when questioning his “integrity”. But, if he wins on the field, your arguments mean absolutely NOTHING. Nick Saban is on the cusp of putting Alabama back in the same position they were during the Bear Bryant era. Hell, they may already be there even if they lose to ND.
Point being, winning puts everything else on the backburner. Jaws, for all his sour grapes, is saying nothing of value.

  Do not EVER compare SABAN to the BEAR. I was a Bama fan when Bear Bryant was coach and my dad had passes that I got to meet him. He signed an autograph and took a picture. I was born in B.R. so before my grandfather died I promised I would carry on the LSU tradition and I have fiercely. There’s been rumors for a while that Saban would leave Bama. Eventually he will, just like he lied to LSU. I went to a Bama game (only because it was free and a free hotel) and there was Saban on the field. We got passes to meet him. There were about 10 people around……he wasn’t doing anything but talking to people. My little cousin wanted an autograph and a picture of him……Do you know what he said? “I don’t have the time right now”. So I was pissed. When we left he was still in the same spot not doing a thing. So don’t compare this moran to Bear Bryant. Saban has an attitude. He’ll leave Bama. By the way, Notre Dame will beat Bama. These facts came from your own Bama fans. By the way, where was A.J. in the finalists????? Go Irish. I would cheer for Red china before Bama.

    Sports is a business and Saban is the CEO…Most CEOs don’t take the time to listen or interact with their employees. And what is with hate for A.J?not everyone has to be a superstar. A.J. MCarron is a well rounded very respectful young man on and off the field. He is also very well coached and would do well anywhere in the NFL that has a good offensive TEAM. Saban coaches for the team and doesn’t rely on one individual to win games. Your rant sounds more like a bitter LSU fan than a comparison of Bryant and Saban. I grew up in the Bryant era and he was also known as being all business and not a handshaking touchy feely coach.

Since when is winning on the field a justification for lying to your fans, to your program,and most importantly, the players that put it all on the line and bust their a** with blood, sweat, and tears for you. The Pertino’s, Meyer’s, and Saban’s are cancers to programs. Who gives a f*ck if he wins when he’s a lying POS. Get over yourselves and have some integrity and respect for other people.

    He didn’t win against Texas A & M. He beat us but by 4 and I never liked him even when he coached at LSU…..even when he took us to the championship and won. He’s a good coach just has a stinking attitude.

  JD…..couldn’t have said it better myself. I don’t care for the man even when he coached my team LSU. I’m not bitter because we lost this year. Texas A&M took care of that. I didn’t care for Saban when he coached us at LSU and we won the championship. He lied to us and he will lie to his team and all those Bamer fans.

I’ve heard rumors a while be back that he would not be staying with Bama. If he got another chance to gain more prestige then he’ll take it before the money. He likes the attention and his attitude proves it. Although he is a good coach he seems to be a GOD to Bama fans. I never liked his attitude when he coached at LSU so even though I was a LSU back then I still don’t care for him. This has nothing to do with Bama beating LSU by 4 points it’s simply about Satan….I mean Saban. I do hope Notre Dame whips them good. Some say they won’t but undboutedly they haven’t seen these guys play. Oh, by the way, where was A.J. in the heisman finalist?HMMMMMMMM Glad that Texas A.& M’s Johnny football won. Remember that team, they were ranked like number 8 and beat Bama. Such a great game.

I am a Bama boy who went to college in Oregon. When it was announced that Bama would be playing Unv.. Of Washington at Washington, I wrote a letter to Bear explaining my situation. He sent me a great letter with four free tickets to the game. I’ll always love that man. Roll Tide Roll.
