New York Jets will reportedly shop Tim Tebow at 2013 NFL Combine

With the 2013 NFL Combine set to get underway, the Tim Tebow talk has once again fired up. The league’s most transcendent/controversial player is currently set to make $2.6 million in base salary next season, a price tag that is extremely high for a NY Jets franchise that doesn’t intend to use him and is also dealing with salary cap issues.
Tebow’s journey from playoff-winning quarterback in Denver to punt protector in New York is about to take another turn, but where to?
According to ESPNNewYork.com’s Rich Cimini, the Jets will look to shop Tebow during the Combine in Indianapolis. From the sounds of it, however, it doesn’t seem like there are many teams out there interested in picking up the much-maligned quarterback.
The Jets can trade Tebow on March 12, but if there are no buyers, he will be released along with the several other stars — Bart Scott, Calvin Pace, Eric Smith and Jason Smith — New York has recently let go.
If Tebow is released, it doesn’t necessarily mean that his NFL career is over, but it will be a long journey back. The fact that the Jets would waive him is case-in-point that no one wants to bring in the most popular man in America. It wouldn’t seem likely that a team would pick him up on the free-agent market.
That leads us to Canada, where the Canadian Football League has been a fall-back plan for years for players who didn’t cut it in the NFL. Sometimes it leads back to the NFL, such as in Kurt Warner’s career, but most of the time it simply just means a player’s NFL career is over.
For Tebow, however, the move up north doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. The CFL is a passer’s league so his throwing mechanics would be even more important when it comes to his success.
On top of that, could you really imagine Tebow conceding to the CFL? Not only is he adamant about the fact that he can play in the NFL, but he also has an image to protect.
If neither the NFL or CFL is the next stop for Tebow, he could very well take the motivational speaker route. Could you imagine the amount of people lining up for a chance to receive some inspiration from one of the most inspired individuals on the planet?
