A little while back, some sports fans somewhere came up with the phrase ‘WAGS’, providing an acronym to easily describe the Wifes and Girlfriends of college and pro athletes.
They’re hot.
Brent Musberger knows it. Darnell Dockett knows it. Manti Te’o does not.
But how often is a WAG asked to make a move bigger in the eyes of the mainstream media than anything her boyfriend or husband has done?
None too often. While generally simply fun to stare at, Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron’s girlfriend, Katherine Webb, is also extremely well-spoken after training as Miss USA 2012.
But exactly how well-spoken remains to be seen — at the freaking Super Bowl. Never has Webb stood in front of a camera by herself with literally a billion people watching live. Half will be waiting to see her screw up, and the other will be ogling her Musberger-style.
Whichever side of that little rivalry you fall on, either way, it’s almost guaranteed you’ll be watching, and that is why she has been hired.
