Kentucky big boy Jared Lorenzen lets new coach know he’s available for work

| December 13, 2012 at 4:20 pm | 0 Comments

Mark Stoops understands the importance of a brotherhood — either through blood or forged on the gridiron.

The former Florida State defensive coordinator accepted the head coaching position at the University of Kentucky, becoming the third Stoops brother to coach at the D-I level after Bob at Oklahoma and Mike, formerly of Arizona.

Now, as he has slowly put his coaching staff together, he has looked towards that other type of brotherly love, the kind that forms over the course of years spent together going through two-a-days, rooming together in the dorms, and winning and losing on the football field.

Thus, Stoops has hired on former Wildcats Neal Brown and John Schlarman as the team’s offensive coordinator and offensive line coach, respectively.

Well, former quarterback Jared Lorenzen, who backed up Eli Manning in his first Super Bowl run and thus has a ring, wants in on the action as well, apparently.

On Thursday, Stoops brought aboard former UK running back Chad Scott to coach the position, making him the third former Wildcat to be coaching in Lexington.

Lorenzen just wanted to make sure Coach knows that he’s available. Of course, while Lorenzen definitely could teach Kentucky’s young quarterbacks a thing or two about the position, hopefully he’d keep his mouth shut if a player were to ask him about how to keep to a diet.

The dude’s playing weight was listed at 285 el-bees; where do you think the dude would be at with all those Waffle Houses around campus and no games to play?

What do you think Gamedayr Nation? Should Stoops bring on the record-setting big boy? As always, sound off in the comments below!
