This is one of those story lines we had been tracking for the better part of Tuesday afternoon, steadfastly refusing to believe the rumors swirling around the blogosphere.
We sat around thinking: Could LSU’s arch-rival really be going after their head coach?
The offer, the story, just didn’t seem like it had legs, and quite frankly, it didn’t seem like it made any sense.

Well, as a matter of fact, this is as real as it gets. According to Nola.com, Les Miles has in fact been offered a contract by the University of Arkansas to take their head coaching position.
The offer is for a cool $27.5 million over five years. That’s the kind of cash that’ll make anyone’s jaw drop, and the kind of money that’ll turn some heads in the LSU athletic department.
“They made a serious offer,” the source said. “(Athletic Director) Joe (Alleva) is meeting with his (Miles’) agent and the discussion is ongoing.”
As of now, neither LSU nor Miles have made any statements on the situation.
Miles is currently making a $3.751 million base salary at LSU. The offer put on the table is nearly $2 million more per year. Such a drastic bump in pay would seemingly be tough for anyone to turn down.
Stay tuned here, we will keep you posted with any new information that surfaces.
