Georgia Tech gets Snaer’d, FSU’s game-winning layup tops Tech on the road

Michael Snaer and game-winning shots just seem to go hand-in-hand. For the third week in a row, Snaer hit a last second shot to give the Seminoles an ACC victory.

Unlike the previous game vs. Duke, FSU jumped out to a fast start on Tuesday night. The Noles opened up a 13-0 lead to start the game. Unfortunately, FSU could only muster up another 13 points for the remainder of the 1st half. By half-time, it was Florida State who was trailing the Yellow Jackets.

In the second half, the game was back and forth. After Georgia Tech’s Mfon Udofia banked in a three to tie the game at 54, Snaer turned the ball over when he let an easy pass go through his hands. Udofia missed a three on the next possession and FSU caught the rebound and called timeout to set up a play.

Coach Leonard Hamilton was quoted after the game saying “You can’t say this very often, but it was really just like we drew it up.”

After a controversial no-call on a push off, Snaer drove to the lane and hit a running layup as the clock expired. The shot gave the Noles a 56-54 victory at McCamish Pavilion. It was Snaer’s third game winner this year and the fifth of his career. The win moved the Seminoles to 13-9 overall and 5-4 in the ACC. While that record is not entirely impressive, the Noles could be in much worse shape if it weren’t for Snaer’s constant late game heroics.
