On Thursday, it was announced that star Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer and his wife, Maddie, are expecting twins themselves, according to USA Today.

Basically, we just wanted to report on this for the funky little jokes and puns: Minnesota Twins’ Mauer set to bring a new set of twins to Minnesota; The Twin Cities prepares itself for a star set of twins; The most well-known Twinkie is bringing some twinkies of his own to town.

We could do this all day — but if you think these jokes were bad, you should have seen the ones we left on the cutting room floor, yikes!

Of course, and in all seriousness, congratulations are in order for the nine-year veteran and three-time American League batting champion. Mauer is a Minnesota native, starring for his hometown team and is now set to bring up a set of twins who can double as the Twins’ new adorable little mascots.

Charlie Walters of the Pioneer Press reports:

“Obviously, we’re both really excited and couldn’t be happier,” the Twins all-star said. “Everything so far is good.”

Of course, what would really blow people’s minds would be if, 20 years down the road, both twins are playing for the Twins themselves.

More Congrats: Cleveland Indians lower prices on hot dogs and beer … ‘Muurica!
