Star Kentucky center Nerlens Noel may be out with a torn ACL, but he certainly isn’t down. The freshman, shot-blocking sensation went out during a game at Florida, and immediately the basketball world debated what Noel’s next move could or should be. Of course, several NBA outlets quickly let it be known that if Noel can walk, he’s going to be a lottery pick — it’s that simple.
Since he can’t take to the court, however, Noel took to the mic. He joined up with Wes Grams in this YouTube video deemed the “New UK Basketball Anthem.” First things first, it is the opinion of this humble blogger that Noel actually sounds far better than does Grams, and what he has to say is far more pertinent to the current fretting of Big Blue Nation.
The dude raps about trying to win the Cats’ ninth national title and whether or not he would be back next season. Fast forward to about the 1:50 mark to hear where he starts, but his last line is what Kentucky fans want to hear: “They talk about the draft, be me in? Don’t sweat it. I might come back, but I don’t know yet.”
The song is officially called “Number 9″ and it’s about to blow your mind.
Granted, the chances of Noel returning for another season and risking another debilitating injury before getting paid his millions is pretty remote.
But hey, it might happen — and clinging on to that hope is probably more fulfilling than actually watching his teammates try to win games this year.
