From the program's inception in 1946 until the end of the 1950 football season, Houston played its games at Robertson Stadium. However, the stadium needed massive renovations.

When Houston Stadium was built prior to the Cougars' 1951 campaign, the team moved in, sharing the stadium with the Rice Owls. Houston moved out of the program's second stadium when yet another was built in the city.

The Astrodome, presently the home of baseball's Houston Astros, was also the home of the Cougars from 1965 until the end of the 1997 season. At that point, whatever renovations that needed to done on Robertson Stadium were complete, and the Cougars had found themselves in a new-old home.

Now that the 2012 season has ended, Houston's nomadic football program is excited for new beginnings.

Robertson Stadium will be demolished, making room for the new Houston Cougars Stadium right on the very same spot. The project will cost roughly $120 million and it will be completed prior to the 2014 season.

The Cougars will be hosting brand new Big East opponents in a sparkling new stadium.
