UCF unveiled these mock-ups for the new Golden Knights’ uniforms as the program prepares to make the switch from Conference USA to whatever the new Big East football schools are going to call themselves.
Overall, there are not too many changes as the 2013 season approaches. However, and for the first time ever, the designs include a version with black pants. According to the Orlando Sentinel, Knights coach George O’Leary has never been a fan of his teams wearing black pants or jerseys, but with the change in conference, so too comes a change in the school’s overall style.
One more fun fact: Nike rejected the initial design because the uniforms could not be made on its template. Robert Jones, UCF’s director of equipment operations, re-designed the uniforms using a template called “The Beast.” The school is the very first to use the design — and apparently that’s significant.
