No. 1 recruit Robert Nkemdiche to visit LSU after all

It looks like Robert Nkemdiche will be taking a last-minute visit to LSU after all.

With 2013 National Signing Day quickly approaching on Feb. 6, it had been looking more and more like Nkemdiche, the nation’s top-rated recruit, would be headed to Ole Miss. This especially after his father said that Nkemdiche had cancelled a late official visit to Baton Rouge.

However, Rivals learned via Nkemdiche’s Twitter account that the 6-foot-5, 265-pound Georgia native would indeed be headed to the Bayou to hear the recruiting staff’s last-gasp sales pitch.

“LSU tomorrow, what up!” Nkemdiche tweeted Thursday.

Nkemdiche’s older brother, Denzel, led Ole Miss in tackles as a redshirt freshman linebacker. His mother has made it very clear that she would prefer her two sons to play at the same school.

Beverly Nkemdiche is currently living in Nigeria and working as a legislator. Thus, obviously, limiting her travel hours once she comes stateside is a priority of hers.

“I don’t want a case where they have games in two different states, and I will be running around like a rooster, or not go to one (game),” she said. “Every parent would really want that. It’s my wish for it to happen, but I’m not going to put pressure on anybody.

“Honestly, if Denzel was not at Ole Miss, I wouldn’t have gone to Ole Miss. My No. 1 team is Alabama. That’s one school I truly love, Alabama. But I don’t have child in Alabama to take me to Alabama. But my son is in Mississippi at Ole Miss. That’s what took me to Mississippi. So I’m not going to travel all over the place just to talk to coaches.”

A mother’s love is a mother’s love.

LSU is going to get its official visit, but the Tigers have been fighting an uphill battle for his services, and now there is less than a week left until decision day.

Lest we forget, coach Hugh Freeze and the Ole Miss recruiting staff are going to be in the young man’s ear all week as well.
