Very rarely is a third-seeded team made to feel like the underdog against a 14-seed in the Round of 64 of the NCAA Tournament. However, with less than two minutes to play, down seven and without any semblance of a shooting touch all afternoon, that is exactly how Marquette was feeling against a mighty mid-major in Davidson.

For how long the Golden Eagles struggled, the team turned it around just as quickly. Marquette entered the game with the lowest three-point percentage of any team in the Tournament field, but three late treys pulled the team to within one with only seconds remaining in the ballgame.

From there, coach Buzz Williams put the ball into the hands of his most talented player, Vander Blue, who came through in a big way. Blue went left, slipped into the paint and floated in a layup with a mere one tick left on the game clock.

Marquette’s mad victory kept the team from becoming the first three-seed to suffer an upset at the hands of a 14 since 2010, when Ohio took down Georgetown.

In terms of theatrics, don’t simply take our word for it. Check out the GIF, and watch Blue’s clutch drive over and over and over again.
