Notre Dame and St. John’s break into full blown fisticuffs, Fighting Irish moniker holds true [GIFs]

Wednesday night’s game between St. John’s and Notre Dame was supposed to have just been another midweek clash between two decent teams.
However, after a sluggish first half, Notre Dame picked things up in a big way, outscoring the Red Storm 44-14 in the second to remove any doubt as to the outcome of the contest.
And it was there that an everyday Hump Day showdown between rivals got totally out of hand. Notre Dame continued to drain threes, a totally unnecessary idea once the Irish went up by roughly 25 points.
With just under two minutes left to play, St. John’s finally made the game interesting — if not on the scoreboard then at least on the hardwood itself.

Notre Dame’s Cameron Biedscheid and St. John’s Sir’Dominic Pointer got things going with a solid little scuffle. Instead of the Golden Domers congratulating themselves on a huge Senior Day win, the celebration was delayed by about 10 minutes as everthing here got cleared up.
No word yet on how this will affect the teams’ participation in the Big East tournament, but we don’t really care about that.
We’re just happy we had something to watch on an otherwise chilled out Wednesday.
