*UPDATE* Jay Glazer reports that Harvin has been traded.

As ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter has so eloquently put it, the first blockbuster trade of the week could very well be shaping up. According to Schefter, the Minnesota Vikings are in talks with the Seattle Seahawks regarding star wide receiver/explosive playmaker Percy Harvin.

While Vikings general manager Rick Spielman has openly expressed that the team would not trade Harvin, it seems more and more like he won’t be suiting up in purple and gold next season.

If the Seahawks are able to make a deal, it will give rising quarterback Russell Wilson one of the league’s top playmakers and a versatile weapons who compliments Wilson’s mobility perfectly.

Wilson is a quarterback who can create plays on the fly, and Harvin is a receiver who thrives in those situations as linebackers and cornerbacks try to keep with his blazing speed.

Harvin, who missed seven games in 2012, still managed to lead the Vikings with 62 receptions, 677 receiving yards and five touchdowns.

Despite his elite level of ability, the Vikings’ hand seems to be forced here. Harvin has proven throughout his career that he has no reservations about killing locker room chemistry if whatever situation he is in is not to his liking. He reportedly choked one of his former coaches while in college at Florida, got into several arguments with former Vikings coach Brad Childress and has continued to be a thorn in the side of current coach Leslie Frazier.

Pete Carroll, Seattle’s head coach, is used to dealing with outsized personalities in superstar players from his days coaching USC out in Hollywood.

We will keep you updated here as new information surfaces regarding the NFL trade waters.
