According to Josh Newberg of 247Sports, Crimson Tide backup quarterback Phillip Ely is considering transferring from Alabama.
Ely still has two years remaining of eligibility, however, with star quarterback AJ McCarron’s decision to return for his senior season, Ely would only have one year of left to play once McCarron graduates.
Despite the fact that he would have to sit a year, per NCAA rules, Ely would still have two years of eligibility remaining at whichever school he decides to transfer to.
Word on the street is that USF is currently leading for Tampa native’s services. Ely arrived in Tuscaloosa as the No. 20 pro-style quarterback for the class of 2011.
