New Notre Dame t-shirt rips on Manti Te’o girlfriend hoax [Photo]

Welcome to the Haterade Cooler. What happens in the Cooler, stays in the Cooler. Visit the Haterade Cooler for the latest trash talk.

————————————————————————————————————————————————

Ok boys and girls, here’s what we’re going to do: We are going to present this t-shirt to you, along with a small bit of backstory, and then we’re just going to leave it up to you.

If you feel like hatin’, then go ahead. That’s what the Haterade Cooler is for anyways. If you want to condemn us for posting this, or (far more appropriately) the people who made this shirt, well, that’s cool too.

Because, apparently, today is “Anything Goes Day” in the world of college sports. Hey, Chip Kelly, we know you rejected us already, but do you still feel like coming over to Philadelphia? Oh, sure? Cool, head on over.

Hey, Manti, still feeling down about your girlfriend? Oh, wait, what’s that you say? She never existed? Well, if you say so (or Deadspin says so and Notre Dame releases a statement about the situation).

Heisman Trophy runner-up Manti Te’o  had won over the hearts of people across the country and spanning oceans after he had reportedly been forced to deal with the death of his grandmother and girlfriend in the same, six-hour span. He put his emotions into a deep, dark corner, picked himself up and collected 12 tackles in an upset win over Michigan State.

However, it was reported on Wednesday that his girlfriend’s death — and his girlfriend altogether — was totally made up. Fabricated. A lie, either on the part of him or her.

Less than a few hours after the fact, somebody put together this shirt ripping on Notre Dame’s traditional ‘Play like a champion today’ sign. Alabama fans did the same thing after crushing the Irish in the title game.

So there you have it folks: One of the most bizarre and totally unexpected stories this blogger has ever heard. And somebody’s already got a t-shirt at the ready. What do you think, Gamedayr Nation?

Tasteful or tacky?

Play like you had a fake girlfriend die today!
