2013 top recruit Reuben Foster to make surprise visit to San Diego State

The road to Reuben Foster’s recruitment continues with the latest in a seemingly never-ending saga of twists, turns and tangents. Foster, who at 6-foot-2 and 242 pounds, is the nation’s top rated inside linebacker recruit and is currently sitting at No. 16 in the ESPN150.
He is from Auburn, Alabama. Thus, initially, he had committed to the Tigers of his hometown. He was so set on playing for Gene Chizik and Aubun, in fact, that he got a massive Auburn tattoo inked onto his forearm.
Obviously, flip-flopping commits is nothing new. However, the tattoo made Foster’s indecision a little more sketchy. He then claimed he would be keeping it as a memorial to a deceased cousin.
Then came yet another funky twist: Foster declared that one of the main things he would be looking for in a school was a solid daycare system for his baby daughter.
You just can’t make this stuff up.
It had been believed, after spending his entire life in the south, that Foster would wind up playing for an SEC school. Alabama, drooling over the prospect of stealing not only an elite recruit, but stealing an elite Auburn recruit, has been hot on Foster’s (recruiting) trial. So have the likes of LSU and Georgia.
But no one was expecting this.
In a surprise move, Foster has announced that he will be taking an official visit to San Diego State this week, according to Agustin Gonzalez of AztecSportsReport.com.
Obviously, not many experts are giving the Aztecs much of a chance in the Reuben Foster sweepstakes. After finally deciding to ditch out on the Big East and remain in the Mountain West along with Boise State, SDSU made their new/old conference stronger — but no one would put them on the level of an Alabama, that’s for sure.
However, there are two other pieces to the puzzle at play here, and their names are wide receiver Christian Cumberlander (LaGrange, Ga./Jireh Prep) and three-star defensive tackle Maurice Swain (LaGrange, Ga./Troup County Comprehensive). Both are very good friends of Foster’s, and both are considering the Aztecs themselves.
If one or both of these young men eventually commits to San Diego, Foster may decide to make a name for himself outside of the safety net of the SEC and his family nearby.
No matter what decision he (and his friends) makes, it has to come quickly; Feb. 6, National Signing Day, is approaching rapidly.
