Robert Morris entered the NIT as an eight-seed, and hosted No. 1 and extremely disappointed Kentucky. The Wildcats played as if they thought they belonged in the NCAA Tournament and did not care to take part in a tournament in a gym that could barely hold 3,000 people.

And they lost.

To Robert Morris.

Even though it was a first-round game, the win was immediately the biggest in the small program’s history and fans stormed the court in legendary fashion.
