There’s been a late horse added to the race for 2013′s No. 1 overall recruit, Robert Nkemdiche. Over the weekend, Nkemdiche took in what the University of Florida had to offer and reportedly liked what he saw.
Nkemdiche had the following to say to Kipp Adams of ESPN Recruiting Nation following his trip to Gainesville:
“No school has been kicked down or anything, but I just have to see the other schools and compare them. Florida, Ole Miss and LSU are battling for that top spot.”
Early in the recruiting process he had committed to play for Clemson, however he changed his mind and had recently narrowed his list down to two SEC schools, LSU and Ole Miss.
His older brother, Denzel, is currently a linebacker for Ole Miss, and the Rebels have been picking up some serious momentum along the recruiting trail under second year head coach Hugh Freeze. Over the weekend, Ole Miss grabbed their third five-star commit for 2013, defensive end Elijah Daniel.
Nkemdiche’s mother has been open about her desire to have her two sons play in one location, however it will be interesting to see how the commit of a fellow five-star defensive end will effect his decision.
Nkemdiche will reportedly wait until National Signing Day on Feb. 6 to make a final decision.
